International Indigenous Women & Wellness Conference in Darwin, August 2010

Attracting more than 400 delegates from across the world, this exciting and prestigious event promises to generate considerable intellectual dialogue and debate, as well as create opportunities to strengthen existing networks and forge new ones. The conference will coincide with the Darwin Festival providing delegates an opportunity to also enjoy some of our unique cultural and social events. The Larrakia Nation would like to invite you to their country to participate in this important gathering. This inclusive event welcomes all peoples to attend.

Themes:
We are calling for papers and poster presentations by academics, practitioners, leaders and elders that relate to the following five interconnected themes:
Healthy Communities
Strong Families
Traditional Healing and Health
Law and Justice
Education, Training and Enterprise

Call for Abstracts:
Abstracts for paper and poster presentations should not exceed 300 words and should clearly state the main conference theme being explored. Paper presentations will be for 20 minutes duration, followed by 5-10 minutes of questions and discussion. The abstract must be accompanied by full contact details and affiliation of the presenter, a brief biography and a list of special needs for the presentation/poster. Please email your abstract and supporting information (Word or PDF format) by 31st March 2010 to the conference coordinator, Catherine Holmes (catherine.holmes@larrakia.com).

Key Dates:
31st March 2010 – Abstracts due
30th April 2010 – Abstract review complete and presenters notified
31st May 2010 – Early Bird Registration Period Ends
22nd August 2010 – Conference Commences
